Darwinius Masillae

Naturalists believe they discovered "the missing link."

After providing it with a fancy sycophantic name, a media blitz is underway. The fossil was allegedly discovered in 1983 in the Messle Pit in Germany (more on this pit below). It was held in a private collection in the years since -after its owner failed to fetch the asking price of one million dollars.

Based on the published reports thus far, the exact spot the fossil was dug up in 1983 is unknown. However, there are  a few facts about the Messle Pit and Darwinius Masillae we find especially interesting. The oil shale where the fossil was "allegedly" found is an ancient lake bottom. Many other animal remains were located there, along with myriads of microfossils which were likely to have been deposited via flash flooding.

Other unique creatures were found there too, like Propalaeotherium Parvulum, lots of horse remains, along with the remains of giant ants, mice, turtles, snakes, crocodiles, birds, bats, eels, perch, and 31 types of plants. Some of these remains can be viewed at the Senckenberg Museum in Germany.

As for our little monkey friend. The orthodox approved theory, is that he "possibly" "passed out" and "sank to the bottom of the lake" where he was "quickly covered by a layer of sediment."  Is that what happened to the giant ants? Probably not. We think, no one wants to bring the word "flood" within a hundred miles of the words "missing link."

Instead, the unfounded speculation is that "poison gas" killed off all the Messle Pit animals (and plants?) millions of years ago... Since no one is likely to find evidence of poison gas, it's a welcome alternative to flooding.

Where do ancient bodies of water come from? Why earthquakes, sinkholes, volcanism, and maybe just sometimes, floods.
