Commentary on Genesis One

“In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth.”

Verse one of Genesis doesn't reveal when exactly “the beginning” was. "The Heaven" refers to the Heaven wherein God and other supernatural beings dwell and "the Earth" refers to our planet Earth. No one can say with certainty how old the Earth itself is. And as much as we all would like to exactly know how old, it matters very little. What is remarkable, is how we already see here: Time (the beginning), Space (the Heaven), and Matter (the Earth

And the earth (became) without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

In verse two we have: Spirit (the spirit of God); whatever happened between verse 1 & 2 was chaotic. When we look out at our solar system, we see many planets and moons fallen from a more pristine original condition. Mars is a barren rock with evidence of past moisture. Venus is an evaporated once oceanic world. By verse two, the Earth was waterlogged. This is more than a poetic detail. Water is the most unique and vital element. Our present day oceans are a delicate balance of water, salt, and chemicals which terminate in a thin mist a child can play in. Any reconstructive work on a wasted world would likely begin with the waters. The word "void" implies: an enemy hath done this. It is also found elsewhere in the Bible rendered "vain":

For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; “God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.”Isaiah 45:18

Earth was created to be inhabited in Genesis 1:1 so that much of the fossil record could belong to this era, although not necessarily so. The catastrophe between verses 1 & 2 caused darkness to fill the solar system. This is an interesting idea when examined more closely, because it could suggest that Dark Matter permeated the galaxy/universe at one time. It is also possible that the solar system was filled with a massive dust cloud. By verse two, the Earth and the solar system are “uninhabitable.”

And God said, “Let there be light”: and there was light.

Now in verse 3 we have: Energy (light) this too hints at the possibility of Dark Matter being the cause of the solar blackout. According to theory, Dark Matter does not reflect much electromagnetic radiation. Electromagnetic radiation is energy vital for life. The light itself was already in existence (this is not the same word for light used below), for whatever reason light energy was not reaching the Earth until God "let it."

Five foundations for life in three verses:

  • Time

  • Space

  • Matter

  • Spirit

  • Energy

And God saw the light, that it was (beautiful): and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

God does not banish the darkness. He instead uses it to divide time on Earth between darkness and light. What we also notice here, is why the sky is filled with stars at every point, yet darkness comes at night. Astronomers now suggest this also has much to do with Dark Matter. The evening and the morning are the first time table we lived by. This introduces the 24-hour rotation of the Earth, which is the measuring rod of human history.

And God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament": and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

The word for "heaven" here in the Hebrew is a different word than in verse one. The word "firmament" or Heaven here denotes the air, or atmosphere (or even outer space). What is apparent from this verse is that the Earth had water above its atmosphere at one time. This seems likely to be a thin canopy of water designed to protect the Earth from radiation and diffuse sunlight. The theory strongly supports the well documented worldwide tropical environment and giantism found in the fossil record. The canopy of water would bounce light twice, creating only white refractions and not rainbows. We know that the planet Venus has a canopy of carbon dioxide. It seems probable that the Earth’s canopy was sophisticated. Not simply a thin layer of water, but a water based augmentation of our atmospheric system.

And God said, "Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear": and it was so. And God called the dry land earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was (beautiful). And God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth": and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was (beautiful). And the evening and the morning were the third day.

The evolution of plant life one does not often hear touched upon. The diversity and the coverage is tremendous beyond what is conceivable within the confines of “natural selection.” We have no examples of transitional forms. Unlike with animals, we do not have close look-a-likes to tack wild speculations onto. Common ancestry is very difficult to envision here. Every task we have seen since verse one has been merely reconstructive, until this one.

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for (appointed times), and for days, and years: let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was (beautiful). And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Carefully notice it does not say God created the Sun on this day. It says "Let there be lights in...the heaven to divide." God realigned and reconfigured the sun, the moon, the solar system, the planets, and the stars for: signs (astrological), appointed times (conjunctions & eclipses), days, and years. The word “light” here simply means: Light Holders

The word "made" here means: "to form from something already in existence." Not "created" as in verse one, where it means: "to form out of nothing."
